7 YRS PROCESS - DAY 507 - DIRTY TRICKS OF THE BIG CORPORATIONS - PART 2

GO BACK

Dirty tricks of the big corporations

I am catching up with posting online my articles.

Some 2 weeks later they have called me again and I have "signed" a verbal agreement with them because they have promised me during the recording ( before they did not want to say it ) that I will get the speed of 12 Mbps guaranteed.

About 2 weeks later I have received the router by mail and I could connect to the internet. Unfortunately the internet speed was less than half ( 5 Mbps ) of what they have promised. At first I wanted to call them and cancel the whole agreement immediately. But after a while I have decided that I will use the internet and I will cancel at the end of the trail period of 75 days so that I can get my money back as they have promised. Normally I would not do it but this time I have decided to take advantage of it because I have spent long time with the sales reps on the phone who have promised me the stars to get the contract signed and get the commission.

After about the 65 days period I have called the customer service to cancel my contract. I had all the rights on my side and I had the guarantee from the sales representatives and I thought that this is going to be easy one time call to get this solved.

Well... I was naive... I needed to make 10 phone calls to get this sorted and it took me altogether about 2 hours to get this sorted.

Why did it take me such a long time and 10 phone calls ?

Every time I called I had to wait about 5 min on the on the next available customer service personal. Then after short explanation of my situation and why I wanted to cancel my contract I was connected with another person who was dealing with the cancelations. This person has assessed my situation and the speed of the internet on their system and has confirmed indeed that my actual speed is of 5 Mbps.

And I ask myself how come they could have guarantee me the speed of 12 Mbps in the moment of the signing the contract ?

Anyway after this I was connected with another "person ???" ( I will explain it shortly ) tried to convince me to stay with Jazztel by offering me discounts or promising me that soon ( 3 weeks ) they will improve their infrastructure and that I will get much faster internet etc. The discounts were insignificant ( 10 % and 3 days later 20% ) and not interesting to me at all. Thus I have asked to cancel my contract and finish with all this bullshit. But this did not happen because they hang up on me. I had to go to work so I left it for the next day.

The next day I have called them again but after couple of minutes they hang up on me again. I called them later but I had to wait for too long and I left it again for the next day. I have called them at night hoping that I will wait less in the queue but the customer service is not working at night. Well... that is kind of normal thus no big deal about it.

I called them again the following day. The story repeats itself as 2 days ago. I was connected from person to person and I had to explain my situations every time and the 3rd "person???" was presenting to me again with discounts and special offers so that I stay with them. I have insisted that I am not interested and I want to cancel the deal but this person continued with the offers. My friend who was next to me and was listening to the conversation told me to hang up and he said that I am talking not to a real person but to a robot. I was kind of shocking to hear it but at the same time I know that this is possible these days ( with the speech recognition technology ) and I started to ask that "person" some question like: "what is your name ?"... "what is the name of your girlfriend ?". But the only answer that I have got was: "what ? what ?". Then I realised that my friend could be actually right and I hang up and finished the conversation. I have no undeniable proof to it because the corporation will never tell us anything like this but as I said before the technology today is advanced enough to do something like this.

I called them again the next day with the intention to find more proof that I am talking with the robot and record the conversation on my phone. But this time I was connected with the real person. I was again presented with the discounts and offers and I was offered that the technician will come to my home and check-up the configuration of my modem. But I was not interested even with the technician being sent to my home because I knew from other internet technician from other company that in my house it is impossible to get the speed of 12 Mbps. Thus I insisted to cancel the deal. It was funny to hear that during that conversation the operator made me feel that I don't want to cooperate and it is my fault. Whatever... ? I had enough of this bullshit and I wanted to finish it.

Another interesting point that came out during this conversation was that I will only receive part of the money that I have paid and I don't know how long it is going to take.

Am I surprised with this ?

Not really... I have already gone through a lot of bullshit with Movistar and Vodafone in Spain and thus I realised that this is the same story as with the other previously mentioned companies. The sales representative wanted to make the deal and he told me some beautiful lies to get the commission. And even though it is all recorded I can do almost nothing about it because the big corporations have the best lawyers and I am working hard to pay my invoices from month to month. Thus I can forget about hiring the lawyer to help me sort this bullshit from Jazztel in Spain.

All I can do in this moment is to wait and see when and how much money I will get back ( if any ). I will let you know as soon as it happens.

To be continued...
